Vehicle Safety Recall

What is a vehicle safety recall?

A safety recall is when a manufacturer, like Nissan, releases an official notice of a vehicle that has been found to be defective or have a potential defect. Not all models will have a safety recall. Only a portion of the vehicles with the concerned make, model, and year will be defected.

How is a recall determined?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is constantly monitoring and investigating vehicle failures or accidents that occur. The NHTSA assures all vehicles meet the Federal Motor Vehicle safety standards and when a vehicle does not meet those standards, a recall will be issued right away to protect drivers and passengers from any possible harm. You will receive a notice in the mail of the description of the safety recall and warnings signs to look out for. The NHTSA notifies all owners within 60 days once the recall is determined.
