The first aspect of the vehicle we all think about when it comes to luxury is the interior. How comfortable is the cabin? What amenities does it provide? How integrated will it be to my phone? The Maxima really went no-holds-bar with its standard trim, providing a Remote Engine Start System1, as well as NissanConnect with Navigation featuring Apple CarPlayTM2. It’s beautifully displayed on the 8-inch multi-touch control color monitor in the center stack, where you’ll also access features such as the RearView Monitor3. While the BMW 3 Series does come standard with a rear-view camera, it just can’t claim the same level of lavishness that the Maxima can. The center stack screen on the standard 3 Series is only 6.5 inches and it can’t host anything quite comparable to Apple CarPlayTM2. It doesn’t have an automatic start function as is featured in the Maxima, either, only an Engine Start/Stop button, making it way less friendly come winter time when a warm cabin is crucial to a comfortable ride!

There’s a good chunk of a luxurious ride that has to do with the responsive power inciting when you depress the accelerator pedal, and the Maxima comes prepared to deliver. The standard 3.5-liter V6 engine is nothing short of unwaveringly confident. Pumping out 300 horsepower and 261 lb.-ft. of torque, it uses a Nissan Direct Ignition System and electronic drive-by-wire throttle for that immediacy you want when merging onto I-290. The BMW 3 Series performance levels may shock you — and not in the pleasant way the Maxima’s has. Its standard 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline-4 engine provides considerably less oomph, clocking in at a meager 180 horsepower. What fun is that? Despite also using Direct Injection paired with an 8-speed STEPTRONIC® automatic transmission, it doesn’t feature as much power as it feels like it should. You’ll have to dole out more cash for a higher trim if you want that V6 strength at your disposal.

My daughter brought her Rogue to Firestone in Natick. She was told she needed ball joints, replace some transmission pan that was rusted out and other stuff totaling $1,800.00+. I said bring it to the dealership because they'll have OEM parts, they'll update software and take care of any recall info.
